Brand new power supply came in. 90% efficiency! :)

Lightning at night wasn’t so great so pictures didn’t turn out so well.. But nonetheless, front of the box and the cables included.

Corsair packaging, great as always. Nifty bag, which will probably never be used again.

Comes with a power cable, zip-ties, screws, and a shiny case badge. In the bag are the modular cables. Finally some nice looking flat, ribbon style cables. Makes it easier to get it behind the case.

And behold.. the Corsair HX850W!

Project “Halcyon”

Third build in three years. I was able to pick up an Intel i7 860 for cheap.. and that led to everything else. I was thinking of a name after I finished my Fall exams for college before break and Halcyon came up — which means “calm, peaceful, tranquil.”

Not sure if I’ll make this a completly new build with new case and PSU, but this will suffice to give me something to play with for the time being.

Picture of everything new in box.

Starting off with the EVGA P55 FTW motherboard. First layer contains the usual cabling. We have a SLI cable, ECP V2 for overclocking, SATA cables along with molex->SATA.

EVGA anti static wrap?

Second layer contains the drivers CD, motherboard manual, visual guide, and IO shield.

Motherboard! Looks really good. :)

ZipZoomfly had these drives for fairly cheap with a rebate and 20% Bing cashback.. so I snatched one up for backing up my data.

It came neatly packaged in a box with packing peanuts and out foam encasing the drive.

Here’s a shot of the drive head-on with the serial numbers removed.

And here it is installed with my other drives. For a moment I thought the manufacturer forgot a screw on the bottom left corner for a second. It turns out they’re made that way.

Looks like the Black series does have a performance increase. That Maxtor does not look too great..
